Manchester Student Homes Awards

Whether you're recognising a landlord, a private hall, or a Good Neighbour, this is your opportunity to highlight those who improved your student housing experience and to celebrate the individuals who help create respectful, supportive, and connected communities in areas where students live.

Terms and Conditions

MSH Award 2026 Nominations

  • Nominations must be complete, legible, and submitted by the deadline. Duplicate or incomplete entries will not be counted.
  • Nominations are anonymous, but comments may be published. Winners’ names will be published and they may be asked to take part in publicity.
  • Awards are judged by an independent MSH panel. Decisions are final.
  • MSH may refuse or withdraw any nomination or award.
  • Awards do not include cash prizes unless stated.
  • Shortlisted nominees are usually contacted within 14–21 days of the closing date.
  • Accepting an award means agreeing to these terms and to name publication.
  • Each award is valid for one year.
  • Personal data will be used only for the MSH Awards 2026, stored securely, and not shared.

 

Landlord Awards

  • Each award applies to one named property only.
  • Only current student tenants aged 18+ may nominate their own accommodation provider (one nomination per student).
  • MSH may verify information and request proof of student status.
  • Accommodation providers must not pressure tenants to nominate.
  • MSH is not responsible for past or future conduct of award recipients.

 

Landlord Award Winners

  • Winners receive a plaque and certificate and may use the “MSH Landlord of the Year 2026” wording and Winners Logo in line with MSH usage terms.

  • There are two categories: "10 properties or less" and "More than 10 properties".

 

Private Hall Winner

  • Winner receives a plaque and certificate and may use “MSH Private Hall of the Year 2026” wording and Winners Logo, subject to usage terms.

  • University Halls of Residence are not eligible.

 

Good Neighbours Award

  • Open to individuals, businesses, or organisations supporting off campus communities. ‑campus communities.

  • Entries must show clear community impact. Each nominee can only be nominated once.
  • Offensive, inappropriate, incomplete, or illegible entries will not be accepted.

 

Student Survey & Free Prize Draw

  • Entry is via completion of the relevant student survey only.

  • Open to UK-based students aged 18+ at recognised Manchester Institution.
  • One entry per person; duplicate or incomplete surveys will not be entered.
  • Prize: £25 Amazon.co.uk gift voucher (non‑transferable, no cash alternative).
  • Winners selected at random and contacted within 14 days.
  • Prizes awarded only after valid student photo ID is verified.

HMO Landlord Award (More than 10 Properties)

 

For larger portfolio landlords demonstrating consistency and leadership 

 

1. Consistency of Standards 

How does this landlord ensure quality and safety across multiple properties? 

 

2. Management Systems 

What evidence is there of clear processes for repairs, communication, or complaint handling? 

 

3. Tenant Wellbeing 

How does this landlord support student wellbeing beyond minimum legal requirements? 

 

4. Professionalism & Fair Practice 

How does the landlord demonstrate transparency and fairness in contracts, deposits, or letting practices? 

 

5. Sector Contribution 

In what ways has this landlord contributed positively to raising standards or working constructively with partners such as Manchester Student Homes or universities?

1. Property Standards 

How does this landlord maintain the quality and safety of their properties?

2. Tenant Experience 

In what ways does this landlord create a positive experience for student tenants? 

 

(Communication style, fairness, respect, professionalism)

Good Neighbours Award

This award recognises any individual or group who helps create a respectful, supportive, and connected community in areas where students live.


Positive impact on the wider neighbourhood, bringing students and long-term residents together.
